Practice
Mr. Vijaykar represents community choice aggregation providers, clean energy companies, transportation sector clients and advocates in administrative litigation, rulemakings and other regulatory matters. Mr. Vijaykar’s practice includes litigating electric and gas rate cases; energy efficiency and demand response cases; net metering and community renewables cases; and transportation electrification cases, among other contested proceedings. Mr. Vijaykar’s practice also involves counseling clients on a range of energy and utility law issues, as well as the development and implementation of policies advancing distributed energy resource deployment.
Experience
Mr. Vijaykar started his career in the energy and environmental practice group at the San Francisco office of the law firm Paul Hastings, LLP.
Prior to joining Keyes & Fox in October 2021, Mr. Vijaykar worked as a Staff Attorney at the Environmental Law & Policy Center (ELPC), an environmental legal advocacy organization based in Chicago. At ELPC, Mr. Vijaykar’s practice focused on utility regulatory litigation and clean energy policy advocacy in several states across the Midwest, including Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Iowa. Mr. Vijaykar regularly represented nonprofit and trade association clients in administrative litigation related to a range of energy issues including grid modernization, distributed energy resource deployment and compensation, distribution system planning and rate design. Mr. Vijaykar was also responsible for drafting legislation related to distribution grid planning and distributed energy resource compensation.
Prior to ELPC, Mr. Vijaykar worked at Whitt Sturtevant, a boutique Chicago law firm where his practice focused on energy and utilities regulatory law. This included counseling as well as administrative and appellate litigation on behalf of natural gas, electric, and water utility clients, as well as retail electric and gas suppliers. Mr. Vijaykar routinely represented clients in cost recovery, rate design, customer program approval, acquisition, financing, customer complaint, certification and other proceedings.
